Team Standert Women's Season Recap: A Year of Triumphs and Challenges

Another exciting season lies behind Team Standert Women. Hear from the team how the season went - the highs, the lows, the in-betweens.

As another exciting cycling season is coming to an end, it's time for our team to reflect on the highs, lows, and unforgettable moments that defined our journey this year. Despite facing illness, injuries, and unexpected setbacks, our women’s racing team is immensely proud of the accomplishments we achieved in the past season. From many weekends spent at the races to prestigious events, we gave it our all and bonded strongly as a team.

This year, our team embraced a series of firsts, each leaving an unforgettable mark on our collective experience. We raced in our first UCI road race, the Tour de Berlin Feminin and successfully completed our inaugural stage race, the Oderrundfahrt. Individual riders ventured into the highly competitive German Bundesliga. We celebrated some victories and many podium finishes. We challenged ourselves on both gravel and road, proving our versatility and adaptability as a team.

One of the most significant achievements this season was how we grew closer as a group. Beyond the fierce competition, we cherished our moments together at races, team rides, training camps, and casual hangouts. We consider our friendship our most powerful strength and every challenge is an opportunity to bond and support one another.

Our training camp in Mallorca at the start of the season stands out as one of the year's highlights. Riding together on sunny roads, sharing meals and stopping for coffee and cake brought us closer together as teammates and friends. We pushed each other to the limits on challenging climbs and provided support when the going got tough. Our first road race of the season in Sa Rapita, Mallorca was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to test the legs for the upcoming competitions.

Our UCI road race debut, the Tour de Berlin Feminin, was a memorable experience for all of us, but especially for Angelina who finished an impressive 20th in the overall classification. It was a big moment for her, but also for Zoe who took on the role of a director sportif for this specific event. Her efforts and commitment greatly contributed to our achievements.

Angelina, Luisa and Zoe consider the Oderrundfahrt as one of their season’s highlights. It was the first stage race for our team and we relished the chance to compete alongside strong opponents, formed new connections and created unforgettable memories during this race.

The Lehniner Hasenrasen road race held a special place in our hearts. The collective determination of female racers led to a separate start for the women's race, emphasizing the importance of equality and fairness in our sport. It ended up being a fair and enjoyable competition among strong female riders.

Expecting a baby, Christiane still remained an important part of our team. While unable to race as much as last year, she joined the training camp and rode along in the others slipstream. She participated in the Rad Race OneTwenty among the rest of the team, offering emotional support and cheering for her teammates.

Also Olena found her season highlight at the Rad Race event, where the electrifying atmosphere and large crowds left an unforgettable impression. It was a reminder of the incredible community that surrounds cycling and fuels our passion.

Aga's season took an unfortunate turn with an early-season crash and a serious injury. We are thrilled to see her back on her bike, determined and ready to make her mark in the upcoming season. Her resilience definitely is an inspiration to us all.

As we reflect on this season's trials and triumphs, we are filled with pride for each member of our team. We are a group of individuals, each fighting our own battles, but united in our determination to showcase the strength of our team. As we eagerly anticipate the next season, we're ready to face new challenges and continue our journey together. The road ahead is long and winding, but with the support of our teammates and the lessons learned this year, we're more prepared than ever to conquer whatever lies ahead.
