Munich/Friedrichshafen, 09/01/2021 - Cycling apparel for females who strive to continue cycling during pregnancy for as long and as comfortably as possible: With the industry’s first-ever 'Pregnancy Cycling Kit', German start-up Veloine has created a true innovation in women's cycling clothing and receives the EUROBIKE Gold Award 2021.
EUROBIKE, the world's leading platform for the international cycling industry, today announced the winners of the EUROBIKE Awards 2021. Every year the competition honors the cycling industry’s top innovations. Munich-based start-up Veloine, who launched in 2019 and is focused on women’s cycling apparel, was able to convince the jury with their true innovation in cycling clothing: the industry’s first-ever cycling kit for pregnant cyclists.
Many female cyclists are still very active in road, mountain, gravel and indoor cycling during pregnancy, but soon have to stop because their regular cycling jerseys and shorts quickly become too tight, and the rides become uncomfortable in their own gear. Male cycling clothing has been the usual go-to-solution in those moments. However, these do not adequately support the anatomy of the female body at all.
The Veloine Pregnancy Cycling Kit has been designed for the needs of female cyclists during pregnancy. It includes a special cycling jersey that adapts to the growing belly as well as cycling shorts that cover and protect the growing belly accordingly, while also adapting to the change. Soft fabrics with lower compression allow for more comfort than typical performance cycling wear does. The product supports female cyclists in their efforts to continue their sport during pregnancy for as long and as comfortably as possible, and thus contributes to their physical and mental well-being. Veloine's Pregnancy Cycling Kit is the first comprehensive kit of its kind and launched in spring 2021.
“After we were already finalists of the EUROBIKE Start-up Award in 2019, we as a team are of course very proud that we again were able to convince the jury of our product”, says Sandra Waschnewski, co-founder and managing director of Veloine. “But moreover, we hope that this award sends an important message to the industry: women are no longer an afterthought in cycling, no matter what stage of life they are in."
The EUROBIKE Award is presented annually at the EUROBIKE trade fair in Friedrichshafen and is considered the leading award in the international cycling industry. In January 2021, Veloine was already recognized as a winner of ISPO Brandnew, the world's largest platform for start-ups in the international sports business.
